Hand woven alpaca & silk throw

9/8/2014

In October I will commence a hand woven aplaca and silk throw.  The warp will consist of stripes of black and white alpaca spun into fine yarn.  For the weft I will use commercial silk thread, both black and white.  Photos will be posted as the project progresses.

Preparation for the Craft & Quilt Fair

Work is well under way for September's activities.  I am preparing a range of cowls for sale at the Craft & Quilt Fair in Brisbane from 8-12 October.  The cowls are all made from a blend of silk and either alpaca or fine merino wool, in a variety of colours.  A photo of a finished items is attached, and also of the work-in-progress.  In the picture below on the right, the foreground shows another cowl being hand knitted.  Behind the knitting is blended fibre - baby alpaca and silk, then four different colours of fine merino wool and silk blends, all ready for hand spinning.  Photos will be posted of each cowl as it is finished.
