What is a micron? 
A micron (micrometre) is the measurement used to express the diameter of a wool fiber. The lower microns are the finer fibers.  Microns are used to measure both wool and alpaca.

How does alpaca compare to wool?
While similar to sheep’s wool, it is warmer, not prickly, and has no lanolin, which makes it hypoallergenic. Alpaca is naturally water-repellent and difficult to ignite.  Alpaca is five times warmer than sheep's wool.

What types of silk are there?
Mulberry silk comes from the silkworm, Bombyx mori L. which solely feeds on the leaves of mulberry plant.  Tasar (Tussah) is copperish colour, generated by the silkworm, Antheraea mylitta  A finer variety of tasar generated by the silkworm, Antheraea proyeli J is fed on Oak leaves.
